Safety Molecular Pathology Laboratory (SMPL) is the leading DNA testing laboratory in Nigeria. Offering over 100 DNA based tests, SMPL does more than 450 different laboratory tests. Currently it has 6 branches in Nigeria: Lagos, Abuja, Benin, Onitsha, Umuahia and Enugu. It offers a wide range of routine, specialized and DNA laboratory testing services to numerous clients in Nigeria. It also supplies, installs, trains and equips hospitals and laboratories. The company offers tests such as viral loads for Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E, HIV load; HLA typing, human identity testing, paternity testing, hormonal assays, autoimmune disease testing; thyroid function; therapeutic drug monitoring, comprehensive metabolic panel, microbiology and hematological tests. Built on a tripod of Diagnostics, Research and Training, it offers a lot of research facilities including tissue culture- based experiments such as cytotoxicity testing, in vitro drug studies, phytochemical and anti-oxidant analysis. It is the only Centre in Nigeria that offers a HLA typing in- country for kidney transplant. Currently, SMPL offers testing services to Tertiary Hospitals in about 32 States in Nigeria.
